Confirmed: Vidoop.com Laid Off A Bunch

by [FS] on November 4, 2008

Vidoop.com has laid off several key employees last night.  More to come on this.

Vidoop.com uses the OpenID protocot to change the way we “sign on” by eliminating multiple login names and passwords.  Using Vidoop’s single sign-on application, company officials say that banks and other businesses can improve security and cut customer service calls.  More on Vidoop.com (here).

It’s the wrong time to use any of these so call “single-on”; once the company goes down, so will your password.

On their blog…

Here less than two months later, the economic reality facing companies everywhere seemed remote, given our momentum and the exciting projects we are working on. But today, we had to face that reality, and tell several members of the Vidoop family goodbye.

The real outrage is of these 9 individuals all of them moved to Portland on broken promises by Mr. Norvell. To be laid off 2 months after moving is ridiculous. I understand the economic turmoil was not wholly expected but how much money did this company shell out to move the company in the first place? I think that internal finances within this company should cause anyone thinking about using their “open ID” services for all their password needs to reconsider. If they can’t manage their business then they can’t manage my personal/financial information.
